Okay so nobody ever has any freaking clue how Soul Wavelength is and my grasp on it is pretty shamefully weak because unlike with other parts of canon I somehow zoned out/completely missed out on the discussions on this part but but people have asked for it so here it is. Most massive disclaimer ever: this entire post is ridiculously WIP. Like if I felt like finding throwback construction site gifs I would, it's so freaking underdeveloped. But it's up here anyways so w/e. This info except for the two undeniably true things currently does not count towards "what this site considers canon" until I actually update with a post saying everything has been reviewed and verified.
Like I'm probably have to go find actual manga scans too for this shit because it's so hard to explain. yeah yeah I'll take out the colloquial phrasings later on dw, i will make it all prettiee for every1 I DO REALIZE THAT THE COMPLETION OF THIS GUIDE MEANS SOME PEOPLE'S ABILITIES MAY OR MAY NOT END UP COMPLETELY INVALID CAUSE IT BREAKS CANON, SO YALL BETTER FESS UP IF IT DOES CAUSE THAT'S A PRETTY CRAPPY THING TO KEEP UNDER WRAPS.
TWO unquestionably true things: "A sound soul dwells in a sound mind and sound body." I will later on find things to explain wtf this even means and how it explains the things people do. Stein is a goddamn genius meister with unparalleled control of soul wavelength because he spent 15+ years applying his genius to studying and experimenting to get to where he is now. His UNIQUE and highly unorthodox offensive applications of soul wavelength are because he is like the top 0.0000000001% of any meister. Your character is supposed to be a starting student who has absolutely no business attempting even weak versions of Stein's unique abilities. Stein's abilities serve to show what happens when you push soul wavelength utilization to its limits. Black*Star is the example of what a student meister with a strong wavelength who trains their ass off can accomplish. Also critical to some of his abilities are the fact that he needs the help of his DEATH SCYTHE to focus with him for the ability to work, and even then it takes a huge amount of effort and focus to push the envelope that far. There are weapons whose attacks are specifically elemental in nature. The justification we have provided to people is because they have an Elemental (LIMITED TO ONE ELEMENT) soul, and their attacks are a result of utilizing that Elemental wavelength. See: Pot of Thunder, Pot of Fire, Thunder Spear
NEED TO VERIFY: -Weaponizing your soul wavelength (using your soul wavelength itself to attack) is fucking hard to do and the people who specialize in these types of attacks usually take advantage of a strong wavelength + intense practice. This is why your character cannot have Soul Purge as a freebe, and must be taught via training thread. It gets easier when both a meister AND a weapon can focus together. - Question to ask: so what about exploiting the special properties of a soul wavelength? Would it be easier than directly engaging the soul wavelength itself and trying to force it to do things?
- Also, Is the above what an Elemental weapon's attack types fall under?
-Black*Star as a case study (FUCK YEAH I'M PUTTING MY $20,000 A YEAR EDUCATION TO USE WITH THAT APPLICATION OF PSYCH VOCAB): Strong, healthy body and strong, healthy soul (and therefore soul wavelength) are interrelated. - To refine this hypothesis: need to see if there are any examples of people who are huge wimps but have strong wavelengths
- Is the hierarchy: soul, which rests upon the foundation of mind and body?
- Is it a bidirectional effect, or is it only a bottom up effect where condition of body and/or mind will effect soul but soul cannot exert effects on body/mind because its condition depends entirely on body/mind in the first place?
-Mifune the Strong Soul Human as a case study: You can possess a strong soul as a result of being at peak physical fitness, but having a strong sou does not necessarily mean you can utilize your soul wavelength well. You can have a strong soul without ever having meant to achieve that specifically, and you can have a strong soul and not ever learn to make use of your soul wavelength effectively. - Most obvious conclusion to try to make: people who are physically weak thus have diminished soul strength?
- What is the role of neurotypicality in this?- How much does being mentally healthy add to having a strong soul?
- If this works by the Soul, then Body and Mind as the foundation pyramid, then how much do the bottom two legs come together to affect Soul?
- Is there any interaction between Body and Mind? -> Many mental illnesses have symptoms that manifest as somatic concerns, for example severe depression as sleep disturbances, bodily aches and pains, feeling like you can't move at all; Generalized Anxiety Disorder where some of the symptoms is sleep disturbance and feeling "wound up", muscles feeling tense and ache-y; Lack of sleep can trigger a manic episode in people suffering from bipolar disorder
-Mental disturbances or more extreme mood deviations can be detected Soul Perception due to its effect on the Soul - So does higher level Soul Perception mean people can then begin to read the personalities of people through the nuances of their soul?
THIS IS HOW SOUL WAVELENGTHS INTERACT WITH ONE ANOTHER

Weapon Meister

So, Ame asked me to throw this up here because of physics.
Basically, I'm here to touch on the properties of waves and how you can think about it in a logical method when dealing with how wavelengths interact. First, a relatively simple concept: Meisters and Weapons amplifying their wavelength together. The Weapon takes in the Meister's wavelength and then returns it amplified by using their own wavelength for that effort. For a good example of this, think about two musicians. If the first one begins playing and keeps everything constant, the second can join in and match their counterpart. The result is a louder sound but everything else remains constant. The Meister is always the first musician in this example and the Weapon is the second. As the two of them synchronize their wavelengths (the ability for the Meister to actually use the weapon) they get a stronger output than the Meister could on their own. Hence, regardless of what type of Demon Weapon you're using, the Meister is stronger with it than on their own.
Second, let's look at opposing wavelengths of the same frequency. This example I'm going to use Soul Eater canon for because it's convenient and already in the universe. So, when Black*Star and Stein first fought Black*Star attacked him directly with his soul's wavelength. This was impressive, but ineffectual. Why? Well, as a MASTER Meister, he could change his Soul's Wavelength to match anyone's. So, as Black*Star hit him Stein matched their Soul Wavelengths and canceled out any damage that may come from a Soul. Why did this work? Well, if you phase shift a wavelength such that its low's overlay its highs (the extremes of the wave) then you get the same effect as no wave. This is hard to picture through a physics example, which is why I used the Canon example.
Now, why can certain wavelengths have special properties? Well, looking at this from a canon perspective, the wavelength reflects someone's soul. Every soul is individual and some are unique enough to change the way the wavelength functions. Now, from a physics perspective certain wavelengths can have unique properties in their own right. Some waves have have wavelengths that give them radioactive properties, the ability to excite water molecules (microwaves), the ability to be penetrate surfaces (X-rays). Thus, it's not surprising that we'd see something similar. The soul wavelengths may fall under a different spectrum of what their effects are, but it makes sense that some wave lengths would have them.
